Wordsmith works off of RTF files. There is a desktop component that
transfers the files over to Wordsmith. I've been a longtime Wordsmith
user, and still think it's better than DTG, but I must say I've been
upset to see that they have been dormant in development and, rumor is,
have decided not to continue with development. The one that I'm leaning
toward using is Mobilesystems Office Suite 4 (www.mobisystems.com).
QuickOffice (http://quickoffice.com/) also has some very good features.
Both of these say they will support Word native documents.
As someone who prefers WordPerfect, having one that works from RTF was
just fine for me. The most important function that I need is support
for converting specialized fonts from TTF fonts.
