You could copy the URL and paste it in the form at tinyurl.com, and
copy the shortened version to send.  More work, but it works.  Just
tried it in the Blazer browser:
TinyURL was created!
The following URL:
http://www.theage.com.au/handheld/articles/2007/12/26/119834
5081507.html

has a length of 72 characters and resulted in the following TinyURL
which has a length of 25 characters:
http://tinyurl.com/2ebaea
