Hi:
I tried the Slingbox AV this weekend. It worked great on my friend's
satilite system. For my home's basic cable, I would need the Slingbox Tuner
($99) instead of the higher priced units. The AV does not have a built-in
tuner and required that the actual device be controlled remotely.
I returned it to MicroCenter and may not get the Tuner either. I like the
concept and wanted to try it, but I don't watch a lot of TV.
I have a small library of Music, Movies and/or Videos on my PC server. It is
more likely that I would want to watch or listen to these file.
There is a free service that makes it possible to view them from over the
web on a desktop, laptop or mobile device including the Treo (with Kinoma EX
4).
The Winamp Remote service is in Beta.
