I have treo 680 with messaging 2.6.1. I tried but not getting the option. It only allows forward as sms unless you say to add media. After adding media, it can send as mms. Here it sends as a mail too but still a mms.

You have to actually tap on a message you've received and then hit the menu button, not one of those buttons at the bottom.
