Found an article on TreoCentral about a new program "MyLocation" to add that feature to Google Maps 1.2.0.9 (ie, the current version for Palm): http://www.treocentral.com/content/Stories/1507-1.htm
Note that while the program MyLocation is free, it WILL phone home with your current location and return "location based advertising" unless you "donate" $10 to the developer.
