That doesn't seem to be the case with the Centro. Whenever I tap the web app,
mail, GoogleMaps, or OnDemand, a window pops up stating that it is necessary to
connect to the internet and do I want to continue.

To toggle those things you mention, I just go into Prefs and it allows me to
disconnect from the web and turn IR and BT on and off. :-)

  Hello, Garden Writer.

  On Wed, 23 Jan 2008 22:51:39 -0500 you said:

  > Tryda sucks. It's a great DA program, but it KILLS the battery on my Centro
because it refuses to give up it's network connection. Fatal flaw for me. I
deleted it as soon as I figured out it was the cause of my sudden and severe
battery drain.

With the 680, the network connection will ALWAYS stay open unless an
app specifically has a setting to turn it off when done. This means
that Google Maps, Web, Versamail, etc, all cause the same thing.

I use HiLauncher. One of its features is the ability to show (and
toggle) the network connection (also the cellular radio and IR beam
  receive).
