PDAnet is a dialup connection in a sense, it dails #777.   So it looks like a 
dialup connection on your PC.

Both use your modern (GPRS/EDGE/1xRTT/EVDO/3G) data connection but you could 
configure your cell phone to establish an older CSD ("dial-up") connection as 
well, there's just no point in doing that, since it's either 9.6 kbps (GSM) or 
14.4 kbps (CDMA) and charged by the minute like a regular phone call.
