[Treo] Verizon Firmware Update

I am helping a friend with a Verizon 700P.  He is having problems with  
its freezing.  I noticed that he doesn't have the firmware update.   
Local Verizon store isn't any help.  I did it for mine using a Mac and  
the SD card method.  I still have the SD card.  Can I do his with that  
card even if he isn't Mac, or is it a different firmware update?
