TreoI moved to Tilt, and it has been 4 months now, and I JUST starting to come
to terms with it.

The software, as it comes, really is poor. I have flashed the rom, and played
with dozens of apps that insulate you from the winmob interface...some more
completely than others, but not that really succeed in burying it altogether
through integration of all of my top needs (and they are not esoteric, phone,
email, sms, web).

The hardware of the device is very impressive in terms of screen, processor,
gps, camera (not bad, although slow), but I find the keyboard poor. Lacks the
tactile sensitivity of a treo, and also, if you slide it out to enter a phone
number, it is tipped the wrong way, so you have to turn the device, and wait a
sec for the screen to redraw in the new orientation.

Not a day passes before I want to go back to my 650, but then I enjoy the nice
browser, fast internet, and good camera, plus I think of all the time I have
invested...

But I too could see going back to phone + PDA. I have a brand new T3 that I got
about 2 weeks before my Treo 600, and I had just configured it, and then
stopped using it...

I like this thread. There is lots of good knowledge on this list, and I hope
that we will keep chatting about other solutions, if Palm continues to
disappoint.

Having said that, if they came out with a GSM Treo with HSDPA, and Palm OS, not
WinMob, I would go back to it in a second. For all the complaining about the
old OS, it is dead simple, and lightning fast, compared to winmob. YOu ask more
of it, it becomes bloated, and complex. Is that REALLY what we want on a
phone?? Making a call is a project on this thing, if I want to call anyone who
is not on speed dial. Even looking up names in the directory is not as quick or
easy as on Palm.

Mike
