Wow Harry, you can write code using the Palm Treo? Your my hero. LOL I can
hardly punch in a phone number.

I had a 650 for years. It worked great until I left it on the cabin
counter while sailing in the rain and high winds and it ended up in a
  puddle.

Upgraded to the 755p. Even better!! It is a great phone/device. It has
full autosyncs of email, calendar and contacts with my work Exchange
server. Came with a good IM client and separate email client for yahoo
and gmail. Also comes with pocketunes for mp3's. I have added several
third party apps such as docs2go for handling windoze docs, iSiloX as
an offline web reader and ebook reader (go to www.memoware.com and
download some lovecraft for late night reading) and pssh which lets me
log in to our servers at work and actually write code! (I'm a software
guy). Finally I can run pdanet and use the treo as a modem for my
laptop and get some pretty good throughput while on the road/boat.

Frankly I am fat and happy and not feeling particularly inclined to
start trying to ramp up on a different platform.

The funny thing is that anyone who is browsing the group to decide on
a phone and sees your message will likely end up reading the replies
which extol the virtues of the treo. :)

I do look forward to the potential release of a fully preemptive
multitasking PalmOS based on the linux kernel. If Android can actually
get to production before that happens, that would then be some serious
  competition.

PS. For what its worth, I agree with the moderators. Those posts were
not so much 'critiquing' (sp?) the treo as they were simply advocating
the crackberry. Its as if this were a mailing list for a particular
sports team. You can gripe about the players, or the coaches or the
owners all you want. But no one wants to hear some guy jump on and
start talking about how much better his favorite team is.
