I can't really answer your question directly, but I have a Sprint 700wx and it isn't supported on that either. It could be a CDMA issue, that is, the protocol that both Verizon and Sprint use (as opposed to AT&T and Tmobile's GSM). More likely it is just that these carriers don't allow third-party apps to access cell-tower data. The reason I say this is that at least for Sprint, this triangulation data is available. Check out Sprint Family Locator, which is a service that lets you check the location of phones on your plan on demand. I tried it out for a few months and it was fun, but ultimately I didn't want to pay the $10/month because I just didn't use it very much. I'm hoping that Sprint and Verizon open their systems up, but I don't know if there are any plans for doing so. At least the 800w will have GSM built in...
