That's exactly what happened to me. I had no intention of buying one yet and
got sucked in by the hype. I am glad I did.

I really thought I could wait a while, but nope!
I decided to go to our main Sprint store not far from where I live (Tyson's
Corner in Vienna VA). I was actually expecting them to have sold out. I went
over at 6pm. They told me they JUST got a new shipment in, but had sold out
earlier (at around 1pm).
I had a bit of difficulty because I have an Everything Plus Referral Family
Plan. One of the reps was insisting it was incompatible, the other that they
just couldn't deal with "SERO" customers at that store, but then they had me
talk to a Sprint rep over the phone and she told me it WAS compatible, so they
tried activating it and couldn't, then called internal Sprint department who
did the activation for them. Go figure. Tried to sell me some accessories but
I need to see what is out there rather than paying the ridiculous retail prices
for stuff that I can get online at a fraction of the cost. I haven't done too
much with it yet, but am so far impressed with a couple of things:
The keyboard, it's true, is a bit tight, but despite this it seems to work at
least as well as my HTC Touch Pro. The TP's keyboard is much bigger, but maybe
because of that it's just not as fast to type on for me. Also, the TP has
always been pretty sluggish when entering text in initially, while the Pre is
very fast.
I used Sprint Navigation for the first time and was impressed with it, but
that's probably because I've been using Google Maps to "Navigate" on my Touch
Pro, lol! Anyway, just very straightforward, very nice interface, etc.
Other than that, I haven't done much other than syncing my Google Calendar.
Really gotta get on it. I'm hoping not to be up until 3am!
Since I wasn't expecting to own one of these so soon, I'm a bit unprepared -
ie I don't know what accessories are available or even what sites are good
places to go. We've been talking about the Pre here a bunch, but has anyone
started a Pre-specific Yahoo! Group?
