Hi Robert,
I don't mind answering these questions, since it was through someone else answering one just like it that I found out about hosted Exchange. Hosted Microsoft Exchange is a service provided by many companies. As it relates to operating the Pre, Exchange provides a server-side repository for email, contacts, calendar and tasks that is kept in sync in real time over the air with the Pre (via Exchange Activesync (EAS), a capability of the Pre) and Microsoft Outlook (which was originally designed as a Windows client for Exchange). The 755p can talk to Exchange through Versamail's EAS capability, and can sync email, contacts and calendar. The company I do business with for my service and that of my clients, www.123together.com, charges $10/month for a 1gb mailbox, which should be enough for most people. If you get yourself to using the 755p and Outlook with Exchange, all you would do is set up the Pre to connect to the same Exchange account, and everything would automatically come down to the Pre. It's not "moving stuff" from the 755p to the Pre. It's just populating the Pre with the same stuff (plus tasks) with which the 755p was populated by Exchange. The Pre has the capability to get email, contacts and calendar from Gmail and Google Apps over the air too, I believe. And that's free. Let me know if that makes sense! Pardon if my question has been asked and answered. I am slowly scrolling through the yahoogroups list of posts. Don reported: "Set up Exchange sync and all of my stuff flooded down in a few minutes - email, contacts, calendar, AND TASKS! Haven't' looked to see how much calendar or how many emails. Not sure if secondary contact folders can sync down." Don, can you carefully explain? I have a Sprint Treo 755p and am very interested in the Pre but wonder about transferring my contacts list and other Palm files on my 755p to my Pre. Is "Exchange sync" loaded in the Pre or in the Sprint server or what? Anyhow, please explain and let the list know what all you have been able to get onto your Pre, and how. Thanks in advance.
