I had the same problem 2 years ago with me 700p and found that it was 
related to my Datebk6 installation.  Can't remember exactly now what I 
did to fix it, but I still use Datebk6 and don't have the speed 
problem.  Try disabling Datebk6 and see if that is the source of the 
problem.  Maybe a clean install of Datebk6 will solve it.
