Better for you and me, bad for Apple. In addition to making a really nice music player, Apple maintains market share 1) By hiding the iPhone/iTouch file system from all but iTunes. No 3rd party apps sync with these devices 2) By being very stingy with licensing AAC. Once a customer makes an investment in a proprietary AAC music library they are stuck with Apple iPod, as no other player plays them without conversion (and sound quality loss).
