Thanks. It hasn't happened again since mid-afternoon, so perhaps it just needed 
to get broken in or settled down.

The slide-causes-power-cycle problem is associated with a small gap

between the battery and the interior wall opposite the battery

connections. When you slide it closed quickly (violently?), the

battery momentarily loses contact with the power pins in the battery

compartment and resets the phone.



You can either go back and ask for a new battery (new ones have an

extra bump on them beneath the label that keeps this from happening)

or, more expeditiously, put a small roll of tape between the battery

and the wall to jam the battery up against the power pin contacts.
