That's correct, and I agree with you.  On my Treo 700p, I was able to save
any type of file attachment to the device or SD card, whether the device
could open it or not.  The Pre owner's manual specifically states that only
supported file types can be saved from emails. Note, however, that when
using the Pre in USB mode, connected to a computer, you can put any files
you want on the device.  You won't be able to do anything with them, but
it'll function as sort of a USB thumb drive I guess for transporting files.
Not sure if you can ATTACH unsupported file types to email.

a quick google search seems to suggest that Kinoma won't stream. Not
