That certainly looks like it would protect the device from bumps and falls,
but it appears to make it a lot thicker... which may not necessarily be a
bad thing as I find the Pre a tad too small for holding with two hands and
thumb-typing.  

I would definitely get something like this if I were working in a rugged
environment (like climbing in and out of jet engines, as I've done before),
or hiking & camping in the wilderness where the phone might get abused.
