See, for instance, Twee and TweeFree. You can try out the app with the free version, and then buy the full one if you like it. Not everybody does it, but that's the practice. Some folks will also put limited or beta versions of their apps out in the Homebrew community, and then transition to paid versions in the app catalog. Sam
