I checked the email prefs and I don't see anything about choosing whether to
automatically download attachments vs email body vs headers only, etc., as
I've seen on old PalmOS email apps.

Huh. Not sure. I have to initiate downloads of all my attachments. By
default attachment placeholders appear, but I still have to click on
them and wait for them to download before I can actually view them. A
good thing IMO, I don't want any phone wasting bandwidth on huge
attachments that I will probably never open on my phone anyway.

I have Exchange 2003 backend.

Hi Sam,

I'm not sure what you mean. For me, email attachments download
automatically along with the body of the email message. Sometimes, if
they're large, it takes a few minutes for attachments to fully download,
but
it's always an automatic thing. I have never had to initiate a download
for
an attachment. Once downloaded, attached files appear in a list under
the
Subject Line.

Perhaps there's an email preference that can be set to allow attachments
to
download automatically or not?

Or perhaps it makes a difference what kind of email account or service
you're using? I'm using POP3 from a local ISP.

George

Attachments don't download by default. As before, you still have to
initiate the download. However, now in 1.4, after you initiate the
download the attachment will open automatically, saving another
keystroke.

I think it's great.

In reviewing Sprint's Feature Changes list for the webOS 1.4 update, I
spotted this:

<< When you receive a message with one or more attached files, the first
file to be fully downloaded opens automatically. >>

I don't think I'd necessarily want that to happen with certain
attachments
in a public place!!! I want to control if and when I open an attachment.

Can someone with a Sprint Pre confirm if attachments really open
automatically? For your reference the URL for the list is shown below.
