I am surprised their GPS on the phone worked, most devices when your on a
call will stop the data transfer. I guess it all depends on what program
they were using. 

It is possible, yes.. Likely probably not.

Oh, the story isn't that interesting. I was driving home, had the gps on,
had the earpiece in my ear so that I could hear the directions over the
music in my car. I was at a point where I was familiar so the directions
weren't all the important at that point, and I got a phone call and answered
it. While I was talking the gps told me to turn (because it was time to
turn), the person I was talking to could hear it even.
