I still use my Discovery 645 for most of the same reasons you do, and my
battery has also been showing some wear lately. I've been through
several sets of the gel earpiece replacements too, since those have
tended to get a bit ratty after a while.

I'm considering going and finding a new 645 on eBay (they're still out
there...), so I don't have to change all of the charging infrastructure
I already have.

The other headset I've been itching to try is the jawbone. The Jawbone
II (not the most current model) seems to get pretty good reviews, and
since it's one model back it might not be so terribly overpriced. I've
also looked at the newer model (the Jawbone ICON), but that seems to be
very iPhone-centric.

One thing I like about the 645 is that it has a better volume control.
The 645 has volume-up and volume-down buttons, while others either have
just a single button to cycle the volume to different levels, or no
volume button at all.

So I guess I can't give you a great recommendation, but I'd be
interested to hear what others have to say!
