On #2, something must be wrong... I have not heard of that being a problem, and
I too have all my contacts and calendar in Google, and I've never had to sign
in after the initial setup. Have you researched what the problem might be?

Here are the main reasons I'm tempted enough by Android, and

dissatisfied enough with my Pre, to give the EVO 4G a shot on June

4th:

1) LAAAAG!!! My Pre frustrates me *every* day, often right up to the

point of hurling it against the nearest hard surface to put both of us

out our misery. And that's WITH the 800MHz patch. *sigh*

2) Google integration. All my most important stuff -- Contacts,

Calendar, Docs, etc. -- are in Google. While webOS does it nicely, I

have to re-login to Google often several times a day, and I'm hoping a

Google-powered phone will be more dependable in that way.

3) A proper home screen. On my old Palm OS devices, ZLauncher gave me

single-look access to email status, apps, and a whole lot of other

things perfectly configured according to my needs. My Pre has nothing

like that, but Android, based on what I've read, seems to do that

really well.

4) Function before form. Android ain't pretty the way webOS is -- it

was, after all, designed entirely by engineers. As an engineer

myself, I've always appreciated things that work well much more than

things that are pretty but which suffer on usability. So, Android may

fit my personality better than webOS does.

I dunno...we shall see. My hope is to have the EVO and the Pre on my

person full time for a week or more so I can compare and contrast how

each meets my needs. Maybe after that, Don and I will write up our

thoughts. Should be fun, whichever way the decision falls.
