OK. You need to go to this page:-

http://www.precentral.net/how-to-install-homebrew-apps

and read it thoroughly (I printed it out and still refer to it from time
to time).

OK once you have WebOS Quick Install running on you PC (and your Pre
connected by the USB cable to it with `just charge` selected on the Pre
and in `Developer Mode`) you are in business.

This all sound a bit scary but once you have done it once or twice it
soon becomes second nature and I even tend to leave my Pre permanently
in Dev Mode although technically this has security implications.

OK, so you have WebOS Quick Install running on your desktop. Under
`Tools` you will find `Tweaks` with interesting and useful stuff. Try
one thing at a time - the very first tweak at the top is add/delete
launcher pages (very useful!)

If you click on the third icon on the right (below + and -) you get
loads of homebrew apps from various sources. I particularly recommend
Switcharoo Free if, like me you are sad and have hundreds of wallpapers
and like them changed regularly! (My Pre can change wallpapers every
minute for ten hours without a repeat!) How sad.

The `+` icon will allow you to install WebOS .ipk files (i.e. progs)
that you have downloaded directly from websites to your PC.

And I`ve just realised that the tweaks that give you the launcher page
number across the top comes from somewhere else! I`ll dig out where/how
and get back - plenty for you to do and play with above anyway
