What's particularly galling is not that there is an issue with the product. Many companies have had "issues" with their products that they either failed to acknowledge, or attempted to diminish with less-than-adroit PR. Consider: the headphone jack on the Treo; the dreaded "bluetooth screen of death" on the Treo, just to keep it to Palm products.
What *is* particularly galling is the Apple attitude that they somehow are "better" and more noble than anyone else (or, in the vernacular, slightly cleaned up, that their excrement doesn't stink). I'm reminded of the South Park episode where everyone who drove hybrid vehicles loved the smell of their own farts. Fact is, the "gap," if any, between Apple's phones and other manufacturer's phones and OS'es is getting smaller and smaller. When the first iphone came out, there weren't many products that could match it; now there are at least a half dozen that are arguably better than the top of the iphone line.
