Exactly!!! There are just so few places/events to which I could take an iPad *instead* of my other devices, that it just becomes another thing to drag along!
I have no doubt that the iPad will inspire all sorts of development that will allow existing device types (including tablets) to fill in the niche in which it lives, and with the increased (and increasingly aggressive) competition for the small device space, I doubt Apple will get the kind of long-term stranglehold it enjoyed on the MP3 player market and the iPhone-style phone market. Nice that they did this for us, though, since the fierce competition benefits us greatly. Nice article!
