I've bought e-books from B&N and they read on pReader.

I have not bought a Kindle because Amazon has shown if it sells a book
and later decides it should not have, it can - and will - take it back.
Ain't hap'nin' here, dude. You sell me something, it's mine.
And I have not bought books from Amazon because the can be read
only on the Kindle I won't buy.
I do not use iTunes for similar reasons.
There are some features-based reasons I have not purchased any of
the other e-reader offerings, but at least with them there's a chance
that, for instance, someone will allow me to highlight and make margin
notes about material (Sony will do that), and access the highlights and
notes on muy PC (Sony won't do that).

If brute force isn't working, you're not using enough of it.
