It is amazing to observe study of* sensor equipped cyber cockroaches* since the past few years. Biobot project aims to develop a mobile sensor network where insects are used as mobile biological-robotic (biobotic) nodes. It is very interesting to note that a cyber-physical communication network established between the insects using RF links, along with the neuromuscular stimulation system to direct the control of the insects. Per NSF, Autonomous navigation in unknown and dynamic environments has been a major challenge for synthetic mobile robotic agents. On the other hand, insects can easily solve such complex navigational problems and demonstrate remarkably stable and optimized locomotion skills in almost any environment. The derived information like pose estimation of biobot agents are used in solving complex problems of life. Please read more about NSF awarded Cinema Project below: https://nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1239243 ARoS lab focuses on the development of tools for the fields of pattern recognition, estimation theory, and statistical and topological data analysis in order to solve problems in the areas of wearable health and environmental monitoring, robotics and computer vision. *Speaker Information:* *Jeremy Cole is a graduate research assistant and a 4th year PhD student,* receiving his Bachelor and Master degrees at NC State. Jeremy has worked on motion planning for steerable medical needles and am currently interested in navigation for swarm-based systems. His research involves the pose estimation of the Biobotic agents used in the CINEMA project. IEEE ENCS RA24 chapter appreciates the Jeremy's overview about the current state of the art research in this topic that can reach those interested people, thus positively fostering our local technical community. We wish continued success and all the very best to Jeremy's future. *Parking Information:* *Plenty of free parking available at following locations adjacent to EB2 Building.* 890 Oval Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606 <https://maps.google.com/?q=890+Oval+Drive,+Raleigh,+NC+27606&entry=gmail&source=g> (EB2 entry) 911 Partners Way <https://maps.google.com/?q=911+Partners+Way&entry=gmail&source=g>, Raleigh NC 27606 (EB1 entry) 1070 Partners Way, Raleigh, NC <https://maps.google.com/?q=1070+Partners+Way,+Raleigh,+NC&entry=gmail&source=g> 27606 (Hunts library 0.2m away) Date and Time - Date: *02 July 2018* - Time: *07:00 PM to 08:30 PM* - All times are US/Eastern - [image: Google_Cal_icon] Add to Google Calendar <http://www.mmsend10.com/link.cfm?r=eT7i3nDxhWXAlUJzibppCA~~&pe=x9Y09dfXOfCM7sb2DkwtsM-sL78ZQwTEqCwo6A05tJxPSoLcNjh7eoLOl-rfTASRnhk7wsoTXvrxSN032AbUig~~> Location - 890 Oval DR <https://maps.google.com/?q=890+Oval+DR+%0A+Raleigh,+North+Carolina+%0A+United+States+27606&entry=gmail&source=g> <https://maps.google.com/?q=890+Oval+DR+%0A+Raleigh,+North+Carolina+%0A+United+States+27606&entry=gmail&source=g> - Raleigh, North Carolina <https://maps.google.com/?q=890+Oval+DR+%0A+Raleigh,+North+Carolina+%0A+United+States+27606&entry=gmail&source=g> <https://maps.google.com/?q=890+Oval+DR+%0A+Raleigh,+North+Carolina+%0A+United+States+27606&entry=gmail&source=g> - United States 27606 <https://maps.google.com/?q=890+Oval+DR+%0A+Raleigh,+North+Carolina+%0A+United+States+27606&entry=gmail&source=g> - Building: Engineering Building 2 (EB2) - Room Number: 1228 [image: Staticmap?size=250x200&sensor=false&zoom=14&markers=35.7719356%2c 78] <http://www.mmsend10.com/link.cfm?r=eT7i3nDxhWXAlUJzibppCA~~&pe=tQe2EH5noeAgpJ8TAgpCL62gS2Y53ITzOfE8-PHOxFgzf8KBdEKhW_F8Z7bezrz_wtO4sVtb2Vjmi1xHFcWfcA~~> Contact - Email event contact <[email protected]> - Mahesh Balasubramaniam [email protected] Registration - No Admission Charge - Starts *17 June 2018 06:00 PM* - Ends *02 July 2018 09:00 PM* - All times are US/Eastern - Register Now <http://www.mmsend10.com/link.cfm?r=eT7i3nDxhWXAlUJzibppCA~~&pe=JQpZYfvuMMcRHgdJjqo97l9qIqmwlYkRbntwR6kd_WKKJ7SWo_XK-JJ9JsPw4GH397_L-X4I176IqmXh0Nj85Q~~> Agenda 6:30-7:00pm Networking with pizza and soda The times below are approximate and are given just as a guideline: 7:00-7:15pm News and announcements 7:15-7:55pm *Sensor equipped cyber cockroaches - Biobot project overview from Jeremy Cole* 7:55-8:05pm Brief Q/A from IEEE students, hobbyists, professionals and seniors 8:05-8:30pm Show-n-Tell (if interested, bring out your projects to show to other members) ------------------------------ Eastern North Carolina Sec Chap,RA24 : ------------------------------ Manage your IEEE Communications Preferences <http://www.mmsend10.com/link.cfm?r=eT7i3nDxhWXAlUJzibppCA~~&pe=pQS_G0kQSVllVyD7QI8hday2UKWd0Ke1eNb4eAtTqaGjrJDF44YjMdCbdZBTDADvcWBW7eKZXuXLJORszIENcA~~>
