This was with a board using the 1.17.0 meshcore firmware because a bug in 1.17.1 raises the noise floor from -112db to -86db. So with the different antenna that's two changes.
I can't remember if I've explained noise floor yet (I have a bad habit of composing drafts and never sending them). The noise floor is the sum total of all signals that are not the signal of interest. So with a receiver it's all sources of RF other than the signal to be received, such as noise. It's a measure of how "quiet" it is in the guts of a receiver so weak signals can be detected. For reference a good amateur radio HF transceiver has a noise floor around -142db or 1000 times quieter. This is a hint of what military equipment might be like. The bug is here: https://github.com/meshcore-dev/MeshCore/issues/3232 IMO the jury is still out about the actual impact of this.
