Really? I'm having no problems with pppd under 2.4.16. What problems do you have? I do have to shutdown my eth0, but I shut it down, and start my ppp session.

I can't use it because pppd is also broken in the new kernel. I can live without sound but not without ppp. Barry -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Vestal, Roy L. The sound drivers can be made with the kernel. After I compiled my kernel I had to reset my aliases. I used RH's sndconfig utility and it worked fine. Are you dual booting? If so, power down, not restart. For some reason, the windoze drivers don't release. You need to flush the hardware with a cold(hard) boot. -----Original Message----- From: Barry Ruvio [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, February 13, 2002 12:22 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [TriLUG] sound card problems After installing a newer kernel on my Suse 7.1 system, I am unable to make the sound card work again. After detecting the sound card correctly, it asks if it should write to /etc/modules.conf. I say ok, then it says it will prepare the card for playing.
