Here is a general drawn out network scenario question I have from a newbie admin. We are currently using Redhat 7.0 on our fileserver which holds 4 18 gig 80 pin scsi's using RAID 5. We are currently at capacity and are searching for a bigger solution.
What I wanted to try, in addition to bigger hard drives, is rackmounting a SCSI array with 3 73 gig scsi's and include that in the current software raid scheme. I am hoping to avoid huge costs, man hours and downtime. I am also hoping the SCSI array will be quick swap out solution for capacity in the future. HAs any body had magical luck with a similar scenario or any horror tales to share for the naive? JOJO Network Administrator INTRAH/ UNC School of Medicine Chapel Hill NC 27514
