check the dead tree versions of linux journal and linux gazette (at
borders, B&N, wherever).  i've seen several ads in there for companies
that sell linux-specific laptops.  unfortunately they don't seem to be any
cheaper than the big names, and in fact often seem to cost more.  but at
least it's going to a good cause.
