On March 7th, I "Job Shaddowed" at Red Hat with a group. They were 
mentioning that they would probably jump straight from 8 to 9, because 
there was "much change," but they wouldn't say how much change :-P Among 
other things, they mentioned their new Enterprise line: WS, ES, and AS 
(AS to replace Advanced Server I think). Funny, on the 8th, they posted 
their new line on their site.

Who knows...

Anyone from Red Hat wanna chime in?  Apparently the final release has already
been sent to hardware vendors (such as Dell).  What changes could have been
made to warrent a major release?  Curious minds want to know!
