well, then, something doesn't give up to go.  the copy process hung on two accounts 
each with spaces in file names.  it looks like the spaces are replaced with %20 or 
something.
 
one thing to try might be to mount a samba share instead of using the nautilus GUI 
copy/paste...

        Really you shouldn't have any problems with file interactions between 
        your workstation and a Samba server. I've used Samba servers as 
        drop-and-insert File servers at many clients.  No problems.
