Never lookd into Wyngate, but I just stayed at a Wyndham hotel which provides the high-speed access free to their "Wyndham ByRequest" members (free registration is available on their website) for the first seven (7) days of your stay. Quite convenient and compatible with Linux. After DHCP, their setup hijacks your http connections until you login and agree that you either want to pay the 9.95/day or enter your ByRequest membership number and password.
I'd bet their setup is not smart enough to intercept outbound internet on port 3128.
