How old is your motherboard. There was an article in IEEE that was referenced on /. and on this list at one point. The IEEE article talked about a stolen electrolyte formula that was used by several capacitor manufactures. The only problem was that the formula was FLAWED. It caused the capacitors to leak and/or explode.....
So I would hazzard a guess that you have a board that was manufactured in the appropriate time frame.
