so i started to run fsck, and here's what i got (after i stopped it, which may have been a bad decision in itself, but the statement i got wasn't too uplifting either):

----------
dabox > fsck /dev/hdb1
fsck 1.27 (8-Mar-2002)
e2fsck 1.27 (8-Mar-2002)
Group descriptors look bad... trying backup blocks...
Block bitmap for group 512 is not in group. (block 22020176)
Relocate<y>? yes

Inode bitmap for group 512 is not in group. (block 22020176)
Relocate<y>? yes

Inode table for group 512 is not in group. (block 22020184)
WARNING: SEVERE DATA LOSS POSSIBLE.
Relocate<y>?
----------

i'm not liking that second to last statement. let me guess ... i'm screwed? good thing there wasn't any important/non-backed data on here that i don't need ... but i'd really like to recover it to save time later ... but it seems all i can do is hit "y" and hope for the best, eh?
