+1 on gaim.  Just dont refer to it as 'GAIM' in their irc channel if you
ask for help, unless you want to get flamed, its 'gaim' or 'Gaim', NEVER
IN ALL CAPS THOUGH.

OT, but it's also available for Micro$ore Windoze, for those of us who
still use both...  :)
