After all of the discussions about RR and wireless access, I have a question for the group.
My folks live in northern Durham County (Bahama to be exact). They are too far from the telco office for DSL, and no cable company has reached their street.
They have been using Satellite based connection, but that is really a pain. The lag is horrendous, and the performance of the system has degraded over the last few years (even though the signal strength has gone up) to the point that dial up is almost as fast. Also Only Micro$oft OS's are supported by the sattelite vendor.
That doesn't leave them with any really usefull high speed internet connection. Now the one thing they do have going for them is that the house is at one of the highest points in the county. That should allow them to put up some kind of wireless connection (802.11).
However the point is who or where to connect to?
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks,
Ron
