While the kernel that Jon mentions will work, it will be slower than the i686 or athlon kernel, and it will not support advanced features like NPTL. I would strongly suggest you get the kernel that has been optimized for your architecture, which is likely either i686 for Pentium IIs or later, or Celerons, or athlon for Athlons and Durons.
