REinstalled again. Everything seems to work ok until I do the security updates.
After that I loose all kinds of stuff. Tried runing as root to. Things just
disappear after the updates. I did all updates and lost lots of stuff. reinstalled
and did just the security updates and lost everything again. Can no longer access the
control center. Tried kde and gnome. also tried as root. Tels me file does not
exist.
reinstalled again and everythng is there and seems to work ok. If I intall the
security updated I'll loose it all again.
done this 3 imes now

Try, as root, running the (graphical) program "menudrake". There, click on
"Save", wait until it ends saving, and exit the program. There's a bug on the

Did you install absolutely everything? Launch "rpmdrake" as root and install:
OpenOffice
K3B
Kmail
Konsole
... and any other applications you might need. On MDK 9.2, many programs that
used to be together in one single huge package, are now divided among many
smaller packages.

What is your desktop?
how are you trying to configure it?
How is it related "desktop configuration" with "software installation"?

Updated.... from 9.1 to 9.2 ? when you updated 9.2 with recent updated
packages? have you updated your MDK 9.2 ? There's been like 200MB of updates
last week...
