Offhand it sounds like you're not using a build that has Gtk2 and Xft
support. Gregory offered one yum source that should resolve that. On
my Red Hat 9 machine at the office, I use a Gtk2+Xft-enabled binary
tarball, and things "look ok." These can be found from the download
link on mozilla.org; google may be faster for revealing nightly builds.
