There's nothing wrong with advertising your rates...I think it would get into the legal gray area if you posted a link to those rates on this list and said "Hey, could you guys make sure my rates are in line with what you are charging."
And the NC guvmnt can do whatever they want. Unless of course the step on uncle sam's toes. I understand wanting to discuss rates, as consulting fees(especially in software development) are not generally advertised and it is hard to discern what the market will bear. But if you have a client that is unhappy with you, and then that client finds that you discussed the rate for his job on a public forum with competitors, that might cause problems for you in this litigation happy society. Better to discuss over beers, where there isn't a electronic trail. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Ray Sent: Friday, April 23, 2004 7:15 AM To: 'Triangle Linux Users Group discussion list' Subject: RE: [TriLUG] OT: Developer Rates Well, I reckon they'll just have to gone on and sue my ace for publicly posting the information on my web site as does the State of North Carolina.
