Not all hp inkjets work with jetdirect. My particular one does. Here is the rh9 config:
system settings -> printing -> printconf-gui -> root password a.new -> add a new print queue b.queue name=hpdj c.short description =hp1220c d.queue type=networked jetdirect e.printer=192.168.1.252 f.port=9100 g.printer model=DeskJet 1220C h.CUPS test page i.success j.hp jetdirect i.parallel port #1 is 192.168.1.252:9100 ii.parallel port #2 is 192.168.1.252:9101 iii.parallel port #3 is 192.168.1.252:9102 lots of times you can use a driver from an older printer like a deskjet 500 on an officejet. A lot of it is trial and error, though. hth, jim > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Gregory Woodbury > Sent: Tuesday, May 11, 2004 2:05 PM > To: Triangle Linux Users Group discussion list > Subject: Re: [TriLUG] Help setting up HP OfficeJet drivers > > On Tue, May 11, 2004 at 06:21:32AM -0700, Christopher Blackmon wrote: > > When I try to configure the ptal-init setup, it's > > "Unable to read device ID string!"...
