Dell Inspiron 5000 Mandrake 10.0 Lucent Orinoco Silver PCMCIA card (made by Agere according to FCC ID)
Everything worked great wih Mandrake 9.2 After upgrading to 10.0 and the 2.6 kernel, the wireless no longer works. This happens in /var/log/messages ----------- May 2 19:20:19 laptop ifplugd(eth1)[8190]: Using interface eth1/00:02:2D:40:11:CF May 2 19:20:19 laptop ifplugd(eth1)[8190]: Using detection mode: wireless extension May 2 19:20:19 laptop ifplugd(eth1)[8190]: Initialization complete, link beat not detected. May 2 19:20:21 laptop kernel: eth1: New link status: Disconnected (0002) ------------- I've confirmed that the card still works in knoppix. I tried the mandrake module, then I patched it with orinoco-0.13e-rfmon-dragorn3.diff available at http://www.kismetwireless.net/download.shtml. Neither works. There are two wireless APs well within range of the laptop. Any thoughts?
