IIRC, only some of the higher-end linksys stuff runs a Linux kernel... I currently use a D-Link access point, and have used many different brands of access points with Linux clients. As far as I've seen, it does not seem to matter what brand of access point, unless of course you want to hack around on an embedded Linux device. :)
