Agreed. I use one specific java based product on my Windows machines at work as well as my Solaris machine at work and my Linux machine at home. It was developed on Linux and works great on Windows. It's a sound editing package. If you'd like to see it as an example:

XP Home version really does lack some in networking, particularly in a business

XP Home version as an IT person, Pro only. Back to what Jeremy P. asked...
what version of Linux will you be installing instead? More stable environment,
faster more efficient compiles, etc. :)

I'm upgrading the operating system on a laptop with MS Windows ME. I
face a decision between two versions of Windows XP: the Home version and

Is there any good reason for a Java developer to get the Pro version
instead of the Home version?

[JR>] an interesting group for such a question :-)

the real question is whether or not you plan to authenticate to a Microsoft
domain. Home will not and Pro will.
