I saw the same thing with Suse. It cleared up after installing the vmware tools
and editing the X config files. I had to do it remotely using ssh to the
vmware session.

Subject: [TriLUG] Mandrake 10.1 from DVD iso on virtual machine and videohe!!

I'm beating my head against the wall with Mandrake 10.1 and video. With all
defaults during installation, I get a command prompt instead of GUI. The GUI
looks aliased on 4 quadrants of the monitor.

Anyone seen this behavior or know what to do about it? Use a real PC instead
of VM? I dunno. I give.

Mandrake Club, bittorrent and distribution rock. If I could just get it to
work, I'd be real happy.
