Extensive experience with at least three of the following operating systems/environments and the ability to become knowledgeable and adept in usage of the others on the job: Novell NetWare - latest versions Windows Legacy products Windows 2000/2003 Server products Redhat Linux, SuSE, TurboLinux (Enterprise and Server versions) SCO Open Server and other version of UNIX operating systems Familiarity with a wide variety of standard hardware items: such as NICs, controllers, video cards, I/O cards, and DASD enclosures, UPS system and the ability to install and configure these in systems to perform compatibility testing. Functional understanding of network architecture - all topologies Experience with networks and LAN protocols (NetBIOS/NetBEUI, IPX, TCP/IP) Ability to follow directions with little supervision. Ability to maintain detailed test notes. Ability to enter data in test result files and/or databases Ability to work in a lab type environment. Working knowledge of hardware/software troubleshooting techniques Good communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Desirable: system and network troubleshooting experience Examples of previous jobs: network technician, systems administrator, systems analyst.
