Thanks David. The alias ****** off statements is what I missed. It's
working fine with the Sharp ROM. I'm going to try the OZ ROM too.
thanks again!

Ok I think this is how you do it (I'll double check when I get back to
work tomorrow, that's where I have it still setup).
First add these lines to your /etc/modules.conf file:
alias CDCEther off
alias acm off
alias usb0 usbnet
Next create a file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-usb0 with:
BOOTPROTO=static
BROADCAST=192.168.129.255
IPADDR=192.168.129.1
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
NETWORK=192.168.129.0
DEVICE=usb0
(Double check these with the setting in your zaurus, I believe those
should work with the zaurus defaults)
That should bring up your network connection when you plug in your
Zaurus and power it up. I'll double check when I get to work tomorrow
post corrections if needed.

David

Did you ever get it to sync with Windows?

I'll try it. I did downgrade to 2.38 and it synced but I'm still going to
try OPIE

Yep, if you are running the 3.x series ROMs on the Zaurus, there is no
sync solution with Linux. This guy was trying to reverse engineer it,
but last I checked he had yet to get it all worked out:
http://www.cyph.org/zsrep/
Best bet if you need to Sync with Linux is to use either the 2.3x series
roms (all of which will sync with Qtopia, just be mind full of the open
root ftp account), or to use OpenZaurus for your ROM:
http://openzaurus.org/web/
OpenZaurus (Opie version) is what I currently run, and it syncs fine
over Multsync. I gave up on Sharp, I think they have pretty much
abandoned the US market and the older SL5x00 Zaurus models. Best to
start getting hooked up with the Zaurus Users groups:
http://www.zaurususergroup.org/
Oh, and just as a note, I Just got my new PalmOne Treo 650 Smartphone,
and it's now syncing with Evolution :-). The Zaurus is now going to be
my embedded Linux test machine.

David
